Special to The Light Austin June 26 Mrs Percy V Pennybacker now in San Francisco is a leading Texas club woman and a candidate for president of the General Federation of Women's Clubs. She was the third president of the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs and helped raise a 3500 university scholarship and secure 65000 for a woman's dormitory. She sparked the state club movement and spoke at major biennial conventions in Los Angeles and St Louis. She authored a Texas history textbook and has long resided in Austin.
The June 26 report from St Louis states counting of strike ballots is finished but results will not be announced yet. Negotiations with railroad general managers will proceed by correspondence to seek an adjustment of the dispute between the Federation of Federations members and rail employers west of Chicago.
Houston reports circulating that a hastily called G H A railway directors meeting may relate to a sympathy strike by federations on western lines. Officials deny beyond routine matters while local federationists await a St Louis vote tally expected imminently.

A statement alleging that any other newspaper carries the AP leased wire into San Antonio is unfounded. The claim lacks basis in fact and references only the San Antonio Light as the carrier.
An explosion of locomotive 838 near Hondo killed Engineer E. F. Beaumont and seriously injured fireman C. D. Connelly. The blast occurred at 2 10 AM during a westbound freight run a mile from Hondo. Beaumont died instantly. Connelly was treated at Santa Rosa hospital and may recover. A boiler committee from the G H and S A Railroad began an investigation into the crownsheet failure. The funeral for Beaumont was set for 4 PM tomorrow at his residence. Connelly's wife Mrs. Connelly remained ill in hospital.
Harry K. Thaw again testified at Matteawan as he seeks release by proving sanity. State’s counsel William T. Jerome grilled him while Thaw’s lawyers protested frequent interruptions. Judge Keogh warned cooperation and allowed Thaw to answer in his own manner amid tense proceedings.
Washington June 26 The Fourth cavalry under Colonel E Z Steever on patrol along the Mexican border will relieve the Fifth cavalry in the Philippine Islands on January 15. The Fifth Cavalry is ordered to the Presidio of San Francisco.
Amateur astronomer Gus Duerler Jr says the moon will occult Antares near Jupiter this evening between 9 30 and 10 00. The event lasts about one hour fourteen minutes with observations via a large telescope as the star vanishes and reappears suddenly due to the moon’s absence of atmosphere. A good opera glass should reveal the occultation as Antares nears the southern meridian.
William J. Bryan refused the unanimously tendered chairmanship of the resolutions committee, saying he would not back a platform he viewed as aligned with forces directing the Baltimore convention. Senator John W. Kern was elected in his stead as the committee began meeting.
International bankers from the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and Japan await government instructions on China's stance toward a proposed 300 million dollar loan. China rejects foreign supervision of finances and the salt monopoly reorganizaton, proposing a six million tael monthly advance and a 50 million dollar liquidation loan in October.
Houston dispatch reports both the Frisco and Harriman systems say their lines to New Orleans through the flooded region are again open for full traffic including freight and passenger services.
