Troops of the Second division paraded before Brig. Gen. A. T. Ovenshine on Arthur MacArthur held Friday morning. Officers joined in congratulating him as he marked General Crven shige day, the sixty fourth birthday of the commander of the Third.
Wrigade from active service is summarized as Maj. Gen. Parsons honors General Ovenshine with a Friday holiday. A reception from 5 to 7 p m in the officers mess on the army post is planned, with officers and wives of higher ranks in attendance. General Ovenstine and Mrs ovenstine plan to depart to Beits in New York and other eastern states.
Denver reports radio experts warned of sunspot fences rising to a maximum by early next year that could disrupt Earth’s surface communications. Dr A G McNish of the Carnegie Institution explained how these fences form and possible detours during a American Association for the Advancement of Science briefing in Washington.
The agriculture department told housewives that prices for peaches and pears should be lower this year, but oranges, lemons, and other citruses may remain relatively high through summer and fall as farm costs and seasonal demand affect markets.

George Velejo aged 45 of 403 Lavara Street was injured when knocked from his cycle by a car. He was taken to Rover B. Gregan hospital. The driver was identified as 19 year old Maths ney of 1538 Virginie Boulevard. The accident occurred at Presa and Nueva streets.
About thirty one California Boy Scouts under Ewa Nungred will reach San Antonio at 2 p m Saturday in a special troil over the Southern Pacific. They travel to Washington D C for the National Scout Jamboree and will spend three hours in the city before continuing their journey.
Washington reports Lady Nancy Astor, the Virginia born MP, entered the White House for a press interview and a brief mercy chat with President Roosevelt. She urged leniency, praising the president while noting harsh comparisons to Hitler Mussolini and Stalin. Treasury data released shows June 23 receipts at 71.6 million dollars and expenditures at 75.1 million, with a year to date deficit of 2.8 billion and gross debt around 398.98 billion. Gold assets total 12.27 trillion with inactive gold around 1.05 trillion.
Universal studios reports Kent Taylor, a film actor, was rescued from Lake Arrowhead near the studio by Irene Hervey, an actress. He slipped while acting, struck his head, and was pulled from the water by the crew and given first aid at the hotel.
