An early Tuesday refusal to accept the new sewage disposal plant followed a conference between J. de Pas, his attorney John Cunningham, and city officials. Mayor Meror OG. M. Chambers said he will not accept the plant unless engines damaged by water are fully repaired and tested. The mayor noted city protest but affirmed no turnkey bond will be accepted.

The Grand Jury of the Ninety fourth District signals more work ahead. Foreman Joby T and members, under District Judge W W McCrory, prepare to report to the court in June. The jury found true bills on nineteen counts and will present its report to the court.
Representatives of the city county machine offered to back Attorney General Robert L. Bobbitt in his race if he drops ouster suits against Tax Collector Neil Campbell and Sheriff Alfonso Newton Jr. Bobbitt denied filing for political reasons and said the suits were pursued despite offers of support. He noted a county official sought to align with him in exchange for backing while another official pressed for prompt action during investigations into tax receipts.
