Syrian Officer Denied Stay and to Be Deported
A former Syrian Army major, Mamdouh Barbour, 43, at Bexar County Jail over a year, has had his stay of deportation denied by US Immigration Judge James C. Craig. Barbour is ordered deported within three months unless another country accepts him. Brazil reportedly rejected, while Syria will accept. Barbour fears death if returned and has given conflicting testimony while asserting escape from Palestinian guerrillas under Russian advisers.
