Eight San Antonio defendants among Austin federal indictments

A federal grand jury in Austin returned 47 indictments last week. Among them eight San Antonio figures face charges including Romulo Moreno Alejandro for internal revenue violations and Prank Camacho in a narcotics case. Other local names include Lauro de la Garza and Mirel de la Garza for forgery, Jose Marines and Mario Moreno in a natepile case, Willie Williams for forgery of WPA checks, and Paul Ramos in immigration matters.

AFL Revokes Charter Over Texas Dress Plant Dispute

Dispute between the American Federation of Labor and the International Ladies Garment Workers ended when A F L president William Green ordered the revocation of the charter from Cadena led workers at the Texas Infants Dress Co plant 1202 West Houston Street The action followed protests from Rebecca Taylor of the ILGWU who claimed the move was a raid and sought to dishonor the strikebreakers group A telegram to ILGWU attorney Maxwell Burker said arrangements would be made to satisfy the ILGWU and to consult with Cadena Taylor said Green instructed Cadena to withdraw the charter She noted Cadena could not be reached after the telegram The Taylor group had been on strike at the plant for over a month The story also notes Senator G H Nisan visiting the Upper Valley on a two day tour promoting his lieutenant governor campaign and Camp Fire Girls history in 1912

Bodies Found After Red River Freight Disaster

The body of M. W. Griggs engineer for the Fort Worth and Denver freight train was recovered near Salt Park along the Red river runoff. Fireman C. E. Burton was also found, with two more victims sought near Amarillo. Damaged crops in the region are patchy and may total up to $200,000.
