Gen Umar Bradley will spend four days in San tonle visiting Brooks AFB on June 24. He is invited to address the Maine Chamber of Commerce at Gucheon during the stay.
In a heated session Rep. Kilday urged defeat of the Coudert amendment to limit military service to 12 months. Rep. Lyle pressed that the measure would weaken the draft while Poage supported a one year term as preferable to two. A conference will align house and senate versions ahead of final passage.
The Lions Club in San Antonio began planning the inauguration of William Bin Judson as president at a banquet and dance scheduled for June 30. Judson was elected at the regular weekly luncheon at the Gupter Hotel. New officers include Russell J. Grieve Frank H. Williams T Wash Masterson Jr vice presidents Lea N. Hill secretary Geo F Lin Spear Jr treasurer Louis Rodriguez tail-twister Arthur Fabra low-tamer L E Hoefgen Presley Wiggs and Dr John E Robinson directors. Rodriguez starts his eighteenth year in the tail-twister role under retiring president J Frank Stampp.
San Antonio's courtesy clinic ends its fourth week Friday night at Tech High School. Chair Claude Aniol says 345 men and women including policy officers and transportation workers have attended. The program, sponsored by the chamber of commerce and the University of Texas, tops enrollments at similar events in the state.
Adv Gen Price Daniel said a federal court ruling against segregating Latin American children in Texas schools does not affect the Sweatt case or other suits involving negro students. He noted Texas law allows segregation by race but not by other origins, and the Sweatt case remains before the Texas Supreme Court.
Health department inspectors planned to check the Lalo Moreno residence at 108 Obregon Street to verify a diphtheria quarantine sign. Two signs placed by the department were removed. A nurse and a policeman accompanied by a bird-keeper warned the family against removal. Three Moreno children were admitted to Robert B. Green Hospital on June 2 and 3.
Readable hospital notes indicate patients were moved from the hospital on a Tuesday despite officials advising against it. One test reportedly showed negative results while another indicated a positive diphtheria result, prompting further inquiries and instructions for the ad department.
Dr James C Price will start practice in Gonzales county on July 1. He will be associated with Dr Seivors and share offices with Dr Geo Holmes in Nixon.
