Noted Bexar Official C J Matthews Dies
C J Matthews prominent Bexar County attorney and public official died early Tuesday in Uvalde at age 84. He recently retired as an assistant right of way attorney for Bexar and had previously served as city right of way attorney and county cabman law judge. Services pending at Ray Akers Funeral Home with burial at Wilben Mission. Matthews practiced law over 51 years, started as assistant county attorney in 1913, later joined staff of the attorney and chief county civilist ally. He retired after a long career and is survived by family in Sabinal and county posts.
