More than 260 district and county attorneys district and county clerks and county collectors gathered in San Antonio at the Gunter Hotel for a joint two day convention. Governor Ferguson Cleans Desk of Bills After Session
Austin Tex June 8 Governor Ferguson will not veto any more bills from the Thirty Fourth Legislature and turns to other state matters. Two remaining items total 415000 for capitol repairs and 1490 for departmental bills. The miscellaneous appropriation carries 562077 and the penitentiary appropriation passes 405000 to cover debts through January 1 1916. The governor urges Senate to investigate penal system claims during their tour.

State tax rise debated at Austin meeting
Austin June 15 report says Texas ad valorem tax will rise from 12 to 28 14 cents at the July meeting to cover about 18 million dollars appropriated by the Thirty fourth Legislature for the coming year. Roughly six million must be raised this year from ad valorem taxes to fund education and other items while franchise liquor occupation taxes and other revenue sources fill the gap.
