Suit to Free Sulman Dropped
Habeas corpus proceedings filed Monday in the 4th District court to remove Sulman Leathers from the home of his daughter Mrs. Lewize Wottlin on West Euclid were dismissed. Leathers, ill and under care of his daughter, faced allegations of restraint and coerced will changes. Alfred and Mrs. Wottlin denied the claims, saying he came of his own free will when ill and was attended by two physicians and a nurse. Attorney Herbert Henne, representing Leathers, alleged interference to move him to Washington or San Antonio. Goodson visited and reported Leathers would be brought to court but a judge did not set terms. The Woltilns’ lawyers prepared witnesses if the case had gone to trial, but the suit was dismissed.
