Glider Pilot Schreder Returns After East German Border Flight
American glider pilot Richard Schreder crossed into East Germany during a contest flight from Cologne. Soviet authorities released him within 24 hours, and Schreder was allowed to continue competing as U.S. officials avoided intercession. His two crewmen retrieved the long winged craft and Schreder resumed competition efforts.
