Rev Newton Malony of the First Methodist church in Sylacauga says a phone threat to his wife warned their house and child would be blown to bits. He asserts the Ku Klux Klan made the call, after a Klan cross was burned in front of the church Saturday. Police have been notified, with investigation pending.
ST. LOUIS June 10 Funeral services for Paul J Neff 72 longtime Missouri Pacific executive will be held tomorrow afternoon. Neff died Saturday night from a cerebral hemorrhage after stepping down from leadership of the line he guided through a decade of receivership. He was elected president in 1956 after MP was restored to prerate operation and later became board chairman. Survivors include widow Margaret Philbrook Neff and three daughters.
Elbert Esbell, 59, of Springtown, died from an apparent heart attack while driving a two ton truck south of San Antonio on Highway 283 toward the Rio Grande valley. Passenger Sim W. Wilson said Esbell toppled over and Wilson steered the vehicle to a stop near Tisap.

Uninjured riders were rebooked onto another train.
George Phillips aged 20 of 1705 Dakota faced his sixth court appearance for driving without a license and speeding. Judge Mike Machado noted the lengthy record and fined him $30 bringing total fines to $131, with payment due Friday. The compound history includes fines on Aug 29, 1954 for speeding, Nov 1, 1955 for speeding, Dec 21, 1956 for speeding, Jan 4 for license and speeding, and Feb 4 for the same violations.
Acting City health Director T J Marshal urged parents Monday to begin Salk anti polio vaccinations for children who have not been immunized. In the last seven days six new cases were reported ranging from 93 months to 12 years. Five cases are paralytic and none of the victims or families had received Salk shots. The latest victim admitted is Francisco Rodriguez 19 months, son of Mr and Mrs Jose Rodriguez 1835 Santa Rosa. Twelve local cases have been reported this year with no deaths. Sixty-nine cases and 11 deaths were reported in the same period a year ago.
D. E. Moore, superintendent of Karnes City public schools for 21 years, was honored with the Citizenship award for 1956 by the Karnes City Community Chamber of Commerce for his contributions to community betterment. In Washington, E. G. Bayles led the Senate appropriations committee presenting the 1835 award amid debate over defense funding and legislative changes.

The Commissioners Court will appoint the new judge but is not bound by certification.
Texas continues to lead U S cotton output as J Carlyle Newberry president of the Texas Cotton seed Crushers Association tells 290 delegates at the St Anthony hotel that Texas mills handle substantial cottonseed oil meal and cake. He cites 160 cottonseed mills statewide and harvested acres totaling 6 250 000 in 1944 46 and 6 943 333 in 1954 54 with 837 000 cottonseed processed in the later period. Other speakers include C B Spencer Eugene Butler W R Poage George G Chance and W C Fortenberry.
