No Oil Shortage Seen in United States
The Johnson Administration prepared emergency plans to prevent a world air shortage if Arab oil supplies dry up amid the Middle East war. A 20 company Foreign Petroleum Supply Committee convenes to form contingency plans, with officials noting no immediate US supply crisis. European, Japanese, and other regions would be affected, but Britain and other allies expected to maintain supplies for some time. Kuwait and Saudi Arabia reportedly consider limiting sales to those aiding Israel, while storage and alternate sources were deemed ample for Vietnam and overall demand.
