Mustang sculpture honors Texas range heritage artist Proctor

The piece celebrates Texas mustangs and Western riders with Proctor's bronze group. Ralph Ogden funded the project after selecting Phimister Proctor in 1928. Proctor drew on live horses from Tom East’s Rancho Viejo and his mountain studies, though wartime bronze shortages delayed completion. The monument survives as a tribute to the wild mustang and Texas history.
