Non-Farm Work Rises in Texas Between Mid March and Mid April
Total nonagricultural employment in Texas increased by 17 700 workers between mid March and mid April, the Texas Employment Commission reported. Excluding labor-management disputes that kept about 6 000 men off jobs, the gain would have surpassed the November 1945 high. Unemployment fell 4.3 percent to 69 430. San Antonio jobless relief declined from 10 to 8 500 while total employment rose from 150 800 to 151 200.

Census Push Sees 98 Percent Count. Floods Slow Some Districts
Census Director Roy V. Peel reports the 1950 population count near 98 percent complete with some districts needing recounts. April 1 began the tally, with hopes it could finish in a month, though the Dakotas, Wyoming, and Minnesota faced delays due to floods and bad roads. Local district supervisors already announce partial totals and project broader figures later, noting shifts toward urban suburbs, rising female participation, and a growing elderly population. The projection remains about 151,000,000 on April 1, reflecting a 20,000,000 gain over a decade. The Windsor party in Paris drew 30 guests including ambassadors to France.
