City Council Passes New Housing Code for Corrals
The city council approved a new housing code targeting currash and tenement houses. The measure, drafted by City Attorney Gillette, sets minimum standards for light, ventilation, sanitation, and safety, with licenses issued on substantial compliance. Existing buildings face a 40 day deadline to meet provisions, penalties range from 28 to 100 dollars per violation, and enforcement will be phased by the new commission.
