Drought Prediction Recalled At Bexar Farmers Meeting
Agriculturists at the Institute discussed a long remembered forecast by Governor E. J. Davis that Southwest Texas would lack running streams within 68 years. President J. C. Beck recalled the prophecy while noting shifts in rainfall and land use since the Civil War, arguing dams and irrigation projects may save the region and underground waters. Local farmers debated Medina Valley project impacts as part of a broader call for intensified farming.
