Beatitudes Illustration Explains Promise of Happiness
The piece discusses the 1932 McCay cartoon illustrating the Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount and argues those teachings offer comfort amid modern worry. It cites the nine blessings, explains meanings for the poor in spirit and meek, and notes the reward of seeing God. It quotes Shakespeare and Brandeis, contrasts Christian hope with other faiths, and stresses eternal values over present distress.
