Austin July 20 The state seeks testimony in the antitrust case against seven brewing firms. Hearings will start in Austin on August 8 with no reason given for moving from Sulphur Springs. Several weeks expected for testimony. postal facilities and forms noted in the record.
San Antonio city council granted licenses to 82 jitney drivers as bonds of 11 099 each were required by next Monday. Four new appointments were made including W W Herring as health secretary and Guz Mauermann Sr as market master, with salaries set.
Corpus Christi Texas July 29 E G Ferrell district commercial manager of the Southwestern Telephone Company of this district returned from a valley tour to obtain an official estimate of the record corn crop for the state. He believes the total crop will be 60 000 bushels of corn though the drought reduced a prior estimate by about 1 450 000 bushels. He estimated 50 000 acres planted with an average yield of 48 bushels to the acre.
Colonel Pappino Garibaldi and four brothers with Thalian Volunteers join the Italian front in Cadore after serving with the French army in the Argonne. They are attached to the Alpini formed with Garibaldi’s lineage and sworn to defeat the Austrians in the war.

Portland telegraph reports the Sons of the American Revolution debated a resolution to press President Wilson to dismiss Dr. P. P. Claxton, accusing him of unpatriotic remarks about the flag.
