Opponents of Ring assert Judge Huntress will fail to swing Mexican votes. Acting Mayor Richter faced criticism for fast tracking the city election proclamation despite calls to delay until after primaries. Taliaferro challenged delay to avoid complicating Colquitt’s gubernatorial race. Huntress-Chambers aims to win Mexican support, but Huntress is seen as unpopular among Mexicans. Andres Coy Jr. may counterbalance. James R. Davis of the Citizens' league is favored by old-school Mexican classmates. Davis and his ticket likely to attract more Mexican votes than Huntress. A separate item notes Herman Brabowski, Alabama constable, will receive federal guard when testifying before a Montgomery grand jury.
