Railroads Need Workers as Army Moves Troops
Army wartime policy on dependents joining spouses overseas is under review at Fort Sam Houston due to transportation, food, and housing shortages in Pacific theaters. Dependents in WAC nurse corps Red Cross and USO may be sent only when military necessity dictates and only for residence, not visits. Relaxed rules apply to Bahamas Caribbean Defense command and Brazil, contingent on available transport and facilities. In Texas Louisiana New Mexico railroads urgently need 6727 workers now, with 50 local positions in San Antonio, to prevent redeployment delays.
