Never Sweat Club Fades as Devine Old Timers Dwindle
Sherille Seroud keeps the Never Sweat Club at Scroud and Son blacksmith shop in Devine, where aging old-timers gather for daily talks on race horses. The group, including Pedro Gutierrez and Fernando Muzquiz, dwindles as deaths thin the ranks. Sherille, 59, has known many since 1930s, and remembers his father Joe Scroud who built the shop into a town gathering place.
