Thomas N. Gates sues in the fifty seventh district court against the city for 25000 damages. Gates, an insurance agent earning about 160 to 200 per month, says on April 20, 1900, between 9 and 11 pm, while walking home on Paso Hondo street he struck a stump between north Tinckherry and north Mesquite streets, was thrown into a ditch, fractured his left leg at the ankle, and was left unconscious, carried home.
