Detailed requirements cover proscenium curtains, stage machinery, fire doors, ventilators with fusible links, iron or steel fly galleries, noncombustible finishes, actor dressing rooms with independent exits, metal storage, seating and aisle widths, exits, stair widths and landings, exterior stair outlets, and boiler placement outside the building to ensure fire safety and structural integrity.
The ordinance details mandatory fire safety systems for theater stages including fireproof walls, recessed radiators, standpipes with gravity tanks and multiple water sources, automatic sprinklers, and gas and electric wiring standards. It prescribes lighting, exit signage, guard devices, and equipment like hoses, axes, hooks, and extinguishers under the chief of the fire department’s supervision.
