Five Hunters Acquitted in Christmas Day Gun Battle
Five hunters were acquitted of assault to murder in a Christmas day gun battle with two ranchers near The Garlingtons ranch. Roy Meunch, 51, of Beaumont was killed. Wounded were one of the five tried and ranchers Sterling and Dalphin Garlington. Defendants included Travis Ellis Charley Ellis Gerald Sanford Richard Morris and Clarence Willingham, all from Beaumont or Jasper.
