Democratic Platform Accused of Plagiarizing From Republicans
At a Chicago dinner July 3 1926 Republican chairman John D. M. Hamilton charged the 1926 Democratic platform plagiarized from the GOP set. He cited anti monopoly civil service and balanced budget planks as echoes of the Republican line and claimed Roosevelt followed suit after Cleveland. Separately three protesters were arrested for disturbing the peace near the Dorothy Procks dress factory Navarre and Market streets as workers entered. About 20 police kept order and escorted workers inside. Additional arrests followed for alleged egg-throwing at the workers and a dumping incident.
