Hall of Fame poll reshapes early baseball immortals
In Chicago on January 31 the Hall of Fame unveiled a first poll of pioneer players and writers. Buck Ewing and Pop Anson led with about half the required votes but missed the 75 percent threshold, prompting a second ballot to select five pre-1900 immortals. Keeler Cy Young and other stars barring a late shift, face a tight battle for remaining spots.
