Washington January 24 General Eisenhower’s call for 250000 new draftees by July 1 won congressional endorsement today on Capitol Hill. Senate investigators reported that prospective selectees plus volunteers could push the army to 1500000, with the 50,000 monthly intake essential to meet discharge policy limits. The subcommittee urged continued demobilization but acknowledged volunteers may reduce draftees, while Eisenhower said Father discharges by July 3 are not feasible.
