Sea Disaster Blamed on Spark Sets Fire Outrage
Genoa Italy Jan 23 Wing members of the crew of the liner Orazio said a spark from a motor started the fire that destroyed their ship and imperilled the lives of more than 600 aboard. More than 500 survivors were brought to port by Conte Binngamano and Colomby. Seventy ambulances carried the injured to hospitals as waves drenched lifeboat occupants and others were lost while transferring to lifeboats. Sixty-three passengers and crew were unaccounted for. 561 saved. Twelve Germans were later rescued by a French patrol boat.
