Reeves announced Sunday that food stamp regulations will ease eligibility and increase county administration costs. The changes allow more families to apply though direct stamp eligibility remains federally set, with a seven member family example shifting from $143 to $120 in payments for $162 in stamps. The county now spends about $300,000 to certify and distribute stamps, a figure likely rising in the next budget.
