France votes to purge Communist deputies after embassy row

In Paris on January 17 the chamber of deputies approved expulsion of Communist members by a 521 to 192 vote. The move followed France’s foreign office disclosure that Soviet Russia enjoys German approval in threats against Sweden and Norway, with fears the two powers may unite in the European conflict. Deputy Jean Louis Tixier-Vignancourt urged expelling the Russian embassy personnel, arguing the French public disapproves of Soviet aid to Finland and calls the embassy a dangerous nest.
