Attack on China Coast Demonstrates U S Naval Supremacy
The Third Fleet under Admiral Halsey shows American naval superiority as carrier planes strike Japan’s oil routes along the China coast. In two weeks, US forces sunk 107 Japanese vessels and damaged 203 more, with rapid operations into Indochina and Saigon increasing pressure on Japan. The mission disrupts oil imports and weakens Japan’s capacity to reinforce the Philippines, signaling a major setback for the Nipponese war effort.
