Memphis power firm offers to buy city gas and electric holdings
Memphis Power and Light company studied an 18 1 127,000 offer to purchase the city gas and electric properties after the city rejected a 21 000 000 bid as out of reason. The city builds its own TVA power system and officials did not say if the proposal would be recommended to security holders. The offer was about 412,000 more than a 17,365,000 bid from November 30. TVA power expansion reaches West Tennessee, affecting 22 communities formerly served by West Tennessee Power and Light.
