J B Sampley manager arrives from Austin to oversee Mackay Telegraph Company of Texas new office in San Antonio. A dozen staff to start, trunk line mid point between here and Austin, work progress steady, city renovations pending before opening by Feb 1. Sampley has twenty two years with Mackay and just opened the Austin office.
Senator Joseph Weldon Bailey states in a personal letter to a San Antonio friend that he will never again seek public office. He says he appreciates interest but will remain a private citizen and perform his duties without pursuing political roles.
