Jury inquiry ends in defense talks with jurors
U S District Judge Adrian 1 5 said no disciplinary action would be taken against two attorneys who adm itted talking to two jurors in the Albert Fuentes Eddie Montez conspiracy trial. Attorneys for Fuentes and Montez said they withdraw a motion asking the government to cover appeal expenses for five year sentences as the court noted the local rule prohibits interviewing jurors. The judge warned jurors they could discuss the case at home but not at the courthouse. The attorneys, including Bert Smith and Ruben Montemayor, said they had been candid about the proceedings and would continue to represent the defendants on appeal.
