In Boston Roosevelt says he is in the fight but will not join any Roosevelt group. Telegrams and New England politicians urge action while he reserves decision on a speaking tour. He reiterates belief in the Columbus platform as the campaign basis.
Theodore Roosevelt's brief reply to seven governors states he will accept the presidential nomination if tendered and will adhere to the decision until the convention. He urges direct primaries to let the people express their preference, addressing governors Glasscock Aldrich Bass Carey Osborne Stubbs Hadley.
Washington dispatch reports no change in White House activity after Roosevelt signaled willingness to accept another nomination. Secretary of War Stimson was among callers and promised a speech in Chicago on March 65 to clarify his stance.
Two militia companies were ordered out by Adjutant General Hutchins to guard a black prisoner during a murder trial in Marshall. At the sheriff’s request, Marshall and Timpson units were deployed for protection as the prisoner moved from Palestine to Marshall under Lieut. Col. George P. Rains.
Fort Worth reports the Sneed murder trial of Capt. A. G. Boyce remains deadlocked after 24 hours of deliberation. Jurors show a 7 to 5 split on ballots, unclear which side holds the plurality. Judge Swayne delays court entry as a written jury note is read.
O R Mounsey chairman of the English syndicate financing the San Antonio Rockport and Mexican railroad will likely depart for New York Wednesday after conferring with William Pattinson of Pattinson Sons who has the construction contract. He plans to sail to England to finalize financial arrangements with directors upon arrival in London. Pattinson will come to Texas to review surveys and arrange start of construction.
For San Antonio and vicinity the forecast calls for fair skies tonight with frost possible. Tuesday will be fair and warmer with shrinking frost risk.
Observations at 8 a m show St Louis 38 with rain and 14 mph west wind and colder weather, Chicago 30 with snow and 20 mph northeast wind, Milwaukee 16 with snow and a 38 mph northeast gale, St Paul 6 cloudy with 12 mph north wind and continued cold, Kansas City 18 cloudy with 32 mph north gale, New York 40 with snow and 14 mph east wind, Boston 32 cloudy with 6 mph northeast wind and snow, and Washington 40 with rain turning to snow tonight or Tuesday.
The statement alleging that the AP leased wire into San Antonio is carried by newspapers other than the San Antonio Light is unfounded. No credible basis is cited, and the Light remains the sole carrier according to the source.
Weather disaster in Arkansas state reports a swath of destruction near Almyra with ten dead and at least 25 injured. Six people perished in Ed Johnson's home as it was lifted forty feet and slammed down. Pumping-station timbers and rice-field structures were hurled, telephones down, isolating Almyra as a quarter mile wide track stretched ten miles.
Snow covered six inches to two feet of sodden snow across the Missouri valley and southwest. Trains from the west were largely off schedule. Telegraph and telephone service were interrupted. Rock Island officials said the Colorado New Mexico and Kansas storm was the worst they had seen. A fifty mile wind accompanied the snow. Three Rock Island through trains from the southwest were overdue by a day.
Amarillo reports snow drifts four to twenty feet deep from yesterday's blizzard. Cattlemen fear the heaviest winter losses from freezing and starvation as train service to the region remains nearly paralyzed.

Operators oppose the demands citing consumer price limits.
Governor grants J B Compton a two week respite from next Friday while he reviews a petition to commute the death sentence for the murder of G J Levytansky at Laredo. Proponents note Lonnie Franks received life imprisonment, and Compton cites his two infant daughters in his appeal.
Miss Eleanor Stevens wife to Foard Townsend of this city in a New Orleans ceremony. The couple wed at St Pauls church after Miss Stevens learned she would be queen of Fiesta San Jacinto but as an unwritten rule the queen must remain unmarried. They plan a wedding trip to Chicago and then reside in San Antonio with Mr Townsend a rising young lawyer.
Business property at San Pedro avenue and Warren street sold by Franz Pridohl to George Mangold for 15000 dollars. One story building occupies the lot with frontage of 115 feet on San Pedro avenue and 71 feet on Warren street. Woodward and Altgelt negotiated the deal.
Emilio Vasquez Gomez responds to Francisco I. Madero and asserts the revolution is national not his, claiming responsibility and urging Madero to resign to restore peace. He warns that abandoning his stance would fracture revolutionary unity and prolong bloodshed and chaos.
News from El Paso reports 800 rurales under Colonel Pancho Villa leaving Ahumada to intercept rebels moving from Bauche toward Juarez. Juarez is defended by 400 volunteers led by Sabino Orozco. 200 rifles and 10 000 rounds arrived from Consul Llorente.
