A Wabash train derailed after colliding with a truck at a crossing near Worth. Thirty one people, including seven of Hal Kemp’s orchestra, received first aid or were hospitalized. Truck driver Frank Gregson, 40, was killed. Baggage car derailed, five coaches left at a steep angle, rescuers freed trapped passengers. Anawerdly county trial court ruling affirming damages for damaged onions in transit was upheld by the Fourth Court of Civil Appeals. Dingfalder and Balish, Inc. sued Texas and New Orleans Railway and the Southern Pacific steamship lines claiming 29 carloads of onions shipped by rail to Galveston and water to New York suffered excessive deterioration. The jury had awarded $87,000 in damages, which the appeals court preserved.
