Texas ports claimed by federal brief in tidelands case
Atty Gen Price Daniel said the federal government seeks all Texas ports and harbors plus sidelands in the tidelands dispute. He noted the brief argues the 1840s annexation deed to the U S ceded ports and harbors, a view he calls surprising and likely to cloud titles of coastal properties. He warned billions have been spent on port improvements and challenged the interpretation as contrary to the 1843 1846 annexation terms.
