The trip marked his first to foreign academies aside from the Romanian Institute inauguration. Moratorium legalized in Missouri. Governor Park said the McCracken bill will take effect immediately.

Washington February 22 The senate banking committee heard that the National City company and the Anaconda Copper company shared 395000 in profits from operating a joint accounting subsidiary of the copper company in 1928. Charles E. Mitchell of National City Bank testified a subsidiary helped in the auctioning of stock in Anaconda Copper Mining. Mitchell also acknowledged loans to Cuban Augur companies drew criticism from bank examiners and noted bonus payments totaling 2500000 in the 39 months before the 1929 crash plus a 3600000 gain from selling stock to a family member.
Sir Malcolm Campbell shattered his own land speed record on Daytona Beach with a two-run average of 272.18 mph on the nine mile course. His first southward run hit 279.56 mph, then the northward attempt reached 270.68 mph, both well ahead of prior marks. He had warned of possible changes to the car as winds and visibility affected the runs.
