Career of Brig. Gen. Mitchell Ends in Death in New York

Brig. Gen. Billy Mitchell famed as the “petrel” of the Army Air Forces died in a New York hospital from heart failure aggravated by influenza. At 57, he had clashed openly with aviation policies of the war and navy departments, resigned after a court-martial, then lectured on aviation reform. He will be buried Saturday in Milwaukee.

Damage suit over store incident begins in federal court

Gannett Urges Managed Currency To Stabilize Economy

Frank E. Gannett, publisher of Grit Hell newspapers, urged a controlled and managed currency as the key to U S economic recovery. In a prepared address to the Technical Association of Sheep and Paper Industry he dismissed the orthodox gold standard as inadequate and argued for a money system that maintains purchasing power and curbs inflation and deflation. Pension blanks exhausted at Bexar County Courthouse

Robert L. Cook district supervisor for the old age assistance commission said about 8300 application blanks have been distributed since last Friday at the Bexar county courthouse. A new supply from Austin is due next week and applicants are told to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday before returning to the courthouse. An estimated 1250 county residents remain eligible to receive applications.
