Train wreck seals fate of eight in Crete Neb
A freight train derailed near Crete Nebraska releasing a deadly cloud of anhydrous ammonia. Eight people died and about 100 were evacuated as fog hindered dispersion and 20 derailed cars added to the disaster. Several residents including a Doane College player and his child perished. Police, National Guardsmen and volunteers aided evacuations amid ongoing wreckage clearance.
