Aggies Rounding Em Up Says Stallings at Awards Dinner
Texas A M coach Gene Stallings told about 200 listeners at the Longfellow Junior High School Gridiron Awards dinner that 41 high school players signed pre enrollment agreements the first day and more are expected. He praised athletics as a form of opportunity and urged parental support for youth participation. He noted he has not yet approached Randy Matson about spring practice and suggested he might argue that professional money could lure top athletes. The event honored Longfellow teams and named captains for A and B squads, with trophies and humorous gifts presented to the coaches.
