River Bill Clears Senate Committee Hurdle in Texas
The San Antonio River Canal and Conservancy district tax remission bill passed the senate state affairs committee. It would grant a two year tax exemption for four counties to help flood control and match federal funds. Witnesses from Bexar Wilson Karnes and Goliad urged relief citing past flood damage and lives saved in 1946. The measure now moves to the senate floor, house committee, and final floor decision.
