State mental hospital to abandon 12 dilapidated buildings
The Texas Board of Mental Health will replace the San Antonio State Hospital with new facilities at the site. Ten other aging wards will be phased out over three to five years, while building 516, a maximum security ward, is to be abandoned immediately due to danger of collapse.
