Youths Allowed to Wed by District Judge Under Texas Law
A Texas district judge ordered the County Clerk to issue a marriage license to a 14 year old girl and an 11 year old boy to wed. The petition says the 166th District Court granted the order to advance lawful wedlock for their child. The suit, filed by the girl's mother, claims the boy promised to marry the girl and that the girl is pregnant, arguing the arrangement would reduce taxpayer burden.
