Potential Radiation Hazards in Space Panel Warns
Dr Edwin R Ballinger of the USAF School of Aerospace Medicine told scientists and clinicians that space travel faces three radiation hazards. Galactic cosmic rays, Van Allen belts, and secondary gamma radiation require shielding and careful mission planning. Ballinger noted low galactic radiation levels but warned orbital stays within belts pose death risks if not managed.
