The driver and passenger claimed no liquor was involved and no signal to stop was given. Detective Wyatt said he fired toward a rear tire the bullet may have ricocheted off pavement. No evidence of intoxication or prep aration was found among those involved.
Charley Kuessel clerk of the San Antonio Joint Stock Land Bank was bound on a $1500 bond after a preliminary hearing before United States Commissioner Paul A. Lockhart on a charge of embezzlement. Complainant William Lucas president of the bank alleges embezzlement of $1047 from June 1, 1923, to January 22, 1924, via false entries. Kuessel entered a plea of not guilty.
The House adopted unanimously a CPI-A regulation to appropriate 587000 dollars for pink boll worm cleanup in Arizona zones. The measure now goes to the Senate for consideration as part of the campaign against the pest.
