Texas lawmakers seek pay raise and new conduct rules
UPI poll of 51 Texas legislators shows a strong push for higher pay and a constitutional convention option, with 27 favoring including a raise in a constitutional revision and 26 preferring salaries set by either the legislature or a state commission. A majority support annual sessions and political finance disclosure with limits. Voters remain divided on pay raises. Majorities back moving party primaries to July or September to curb campaign length.
