Labor Law Called Issue in Chicago Printers Strike
Chicago December 30. Robert C Bassett attorney for the Chicago Newspaper Publishers association told a congressional subcommittee that the real issue is the Taft Hartley law. He said the matter appears to aim to amend or destroy this act and is a battle between the International Typographers and Congress. Rep Owens pressed Bassett on whether Local 16 is a guinea pig in the fight over labor management relations act of 1947. Bassett called that a fair statement and said it reflects the dispute on bargaining table.
