President Augustin PF Justo blamed the radical party for a shortlived revolt that killed at least 20 people. About 150 leaders were detained on a river boat north of Santa Fe as they prepared a convention. The government said rebels were subdued and a state of siege would not disrupt normal life.

Atmore Alabama February 1 194? The search for convicts who killed one man and wounded another as they fled Atmore State Prison continued today with an expanding front. Twenty nine convicts overpowered guards and fled into fields. Five were recaptured and another was caught in Mobile last night. W F Feagin director of the late convict department said the escaping prisoners were unhappy because they did not receive Christmas.
Washington December thirtieth Secretary Ickes declared in an instrument published today that about 5 000 000 persons had received pay envelopes from rolls financed by the Public Works Administration in the first six months of operation and that the total will continue to mount. The Public Works administrator listed 4 000 000 as employed by the Civil Works Administration an original Civilian Conservation Corps roster of 300 000 and a Public Works payroll totaling 754 450 men on December 9.
