Youth Is Sentenced for Narcotics Charge in Booneville
Fred Calhoun a 17 year old who pleaded guilty appeared before Judge Duval West in the federal court and was sentenced to twelve months and five days at the federal reform school in Booneville Missouri after a deferred sentence and a court inquiry into his life in San Antonio and his character. Assistant United States Attorney Williams G Williams presented probation officer Lonis Sauveur Jr who said Calhoun was taken into custody six months ago after a freight train riding arrest. The jailer kept him for several days providing meals and a place to sleep while he sought work. Sauveur noted Calhoun’s last known activity was operating a horse engine on a merry go round on River Avenue until his arrest for narcotics violations. A written report by Williams was also shown. The judge urged Calhoun to take advantage of opportunities at the reform school to better himself and prepare for a useful life.
